What you want to become? #DoYourHomework

What do you want to become when you grow up? I never asked Kanna this question because I know that his answer will change. But now, he is big enough to come up with this question on his own. He says, “Amma, you know what I want to become when I grow up? A fireman!”

His answer changes every week. Sometimes he wants to become an Astronaut, sometimes it is a scientist. There are times when he wants to become a policeman and fight the baddies.

He did say a few times that he would like to become a Super Hero when he grows up and then he ran around with a towel for the cape and called out, “Super Kanna to the rescue!” 🙂 Yeah, I know!

Once he said that he wants to become a big man when he grows up. 🙂

His aspirations changes often and I am sure as he grows older I am going to hear more such roles he would like to become. I am happy to learn that my kid knows so many career choices including the Super Hero option at such a young age. The truth is, children today have a lot of career choices. And as parents, it is our responsibility to be prepared to help them with whatever they choose to be.

Parents can help the children in exploring the various career options out there. #DoYourHomework is an initiative by Axis Mutual Fund to help the parents to come up with options in saving money for children’s future. Children’s education is a longer-term goal for many parents and the ideal way to plan for it would be by investing in mutual funds through a Systematic Investment Plan (SIP).

While our children dream of what they want to become, we, the parents, should do our homework to help them achieve those dreams. Plan for the child’s future and do better investments now, so later when they aspire to become the real Super Heroes, we can hold their hands and say, “Go Baby!”, without frantically searching our pockets.

So, what are you waiting for? Do your homework! I did mine. While you are at it, check out this video.

I honestly wish there was an investment plan so kids could be superheroes 🙂 But then again, you don’t need a cape or costume to be one.
Here’s to hoping your little one finds what he wants to do and is able to pursue it too !

What a wonderfully matured view on encouraging your child to be what he wants by actively doing the homework yourself to ensure that their career option is the right one

Very sweet post. Your post reminds me of a sweet conversation between my daughter and my nephew where these kids were discussing what they want to become. 🙂

My good friend growing up wanted to become a veterinarian. But there was no money, and her family was not that supportive of him going to the special schools she would have needed. So she became a science teacher. Still, if only her family had been able to prepare, and help her live her dream, things would have been different.

I love that there are so many options available to your son – whatever he wants to be, he can be!

It is definitely the need of the hour to let kids decide what they want to be. They need to be nudged in the right direction though and only parents can do that. Way to go!
