My happy place #MondayMusings

For some, the sea is the soothing place to be. For some, it is the rain or the river. For me, it is the sky that calms me down. It always had been. My happy place I would call it.
Doesn’t matter the state of my mind. When I stand on the terrace looking at the sky, listening to the birds chirping, feeling the gentle breeze, figuring out the notes that clouds leave up there for me, I’m calm. It is the most soothing sensation for me. My happy place, for it instantly takes me away from the chaos my mind resides to a place of smiles.

A long time ago, I survived because of my happy place’s existence alone. For a 16-year-old the world became a scary one when we were abandoned in pitch black, with no instructions on how to get to the light switch. It was genuinely scary. But this happy place of mine, it was there to lift up my spirits to hold on for another second and to encourage me to try and move on to find the switch. And eventually, I did.

I had a sort of break up with my happy place when I moved to Bangalore where I couldn’t enjoy the sky as much due to the busy work and life. Later, we reconciled. Sky, with its many hues, still remains my favorite place, my happy place. One good part about it is that anywhere I go, the sky is there. All I have to do is to look up. Worries are washed away, albeit temporarily. Smile, that is genuine, is guaranteed. I’m calm again. Happy again.

I so agree with you, Vini! I too love looking up at the sky – first thing in the morning and then every time I am outdoors. I end my day with a last look at the night sky with its twinkling stars and the silvery moon. I find peace there and often wonder how it will be if I get a chance to go visit that happy place, up above?
    Beautiful pictures!

The sky is always there, unlike people. We need some constants in our lives to keep us from feeling abandoned and lost. I am glad you have the sky as your constant companion. I have my magic place in my head, I go there whenever life tries to get the better of me 🙂 Lovely pictures and thoughts.

When we look up to some one or something, we are always in its awe! And when it is the limitless, fathomless sky…its more of a Zen situation!
Time flies by when we watch the drifting clouds. It has a meditating effect on mind. The drifting clouds take up all the thoughts and flush our brain’s RAM to make space for new thinking!
Loved the article to the last period, Vineetha!

I love just looking out the window when I’m at work and gazing at the sky. Sometimes it’s calm and blue, sometimes there are clouds drifting by. It always brings me peace. So grateful that I sit near a window!

Oh yes the Sky has amazing moods that play on its surface all day long! I can sense your joy leaping out from the words in this post Vini and I dont think I have ever heard anyone talk about the sky so lovingly! I think most of us take it for granted though we are forever clicking pics of it! Thank you for making me aware of how much I love it too!!

True, Vinittha, the sky with its vast expanse astonishes the viewers. Nicely written.

What do you think? Please share! :)
