A Haiku Post #SoulfulSunday

is it possible
to tell a tale in haiku?
why not try and see?

this is not a tale
just some random thoughts shared here
counting syllables

last week we were sick
cold, cough, sore throat, tired – the likes
caught us by surprise

and off we took turns
resting, nursing each other
to regain our health

it was the weather –
the cold nights, warm afternoons
tiring the body

still, I like this time –
time for autumn leaves, falling
creating artwork

not in my yard, though,
in Phoenix, fall is a myth,
a dear fantasy!

it is flu season
filled with thoughts of autumn leaves,
isn’t that poetic?

my random musings
may not always make sense, but
if it didn’t bore you

I will be happy,
so, please share what do you think?
my thoughts in haiku

I’m writing this month
expressing thanks for the month
here in Medium

I like this challenge-
creative and expressive
– my thoughts in haiku

can i suggest this?
share your comments in haiku
if you would like so

no worries if not,
syllables five-seven-five
won’t always play nice

  1. Oh wow! This is great!!
    You clearly have a way
    To leave us impressed.

    No mean feat, this is—
    tossing words and images,
    for Haikus like this!

    How do you do this?
    Crafting poems and stories,
    Juggling words with ease?

    Keep writing, my dear
    Your talents, you must explore
    Look forward to more!

    🙂

      1. Thank you so much! You are so encouraging of my feeble attempts, dear Shilpa! I’m a novice when it comes to writing Haiku. Nevertheless, I’ve tried them a couple of times on the blog a year or two back. It’s fun to try something new, isn’t it? You too must try Shilpa. Who knows you might just discover a latent talent in writing Haikus waiting to surface someday. There’s always a first time, remember? ????

  2. Wow! My dear Vinitha,
    you left me awestruck
    by stringing these magical
words, like a handful of pearls.

    This is my first
    childish attempt at haiku,
    an act that’s sure
    to draw some laughter!

Uff! This was so tough! And, believe me, I am so embarrassed at this poetry that I have tried to write. Is it even poetry?
What IS this Haiku? Vini, I think you should give us a talk on this genre so that we can also try it out someday. Good exercise for the brain.

What do you think? Please share! :)
