Taking Responsibility #SoulfulSunday

I love making plans. I love making plans and following them. At least I used to. I have made so many plans in the past and fulfilled them too. But of late, my plans are falling apart.  To begin with I’m not coming up with stable plans. And following the plans has become a hassle for me. The moment I think this is working out; I’m following the plan better this time – it all falls apart. It’s like I go above and beyond to sabotage the plans and purposely destroy everything.  For example, I have been complaining about the […]

Imperfect – the only way of existence #SoulfulSunday

The paper is scattered with words. There is no pattern. Or is there a pattern that I miss to understand?  The blotched ink on the paper says that despite the effort sometimes things get messy. I hate seeing blotches like that on paper. It isn’t professional. It isn’t nice.  But I’m lying. I just want to appear best and professional.  I love the tiny blotches of ink claiming its presence in the paper. It shows my frustration and effort. It shows that despite the care sometimes I mess up. And the mess and words can coexist. It shows it’s all […]

My Journey of Self Discovery #SoulfulSunday

What makes me a writer? I started writing when I was in the 6th grade. I wrote one 6 liner verse and 4-5 2 liners and showed it to my parents.  I remember writing them, the hesitation and the desire to show them, the sort of disbelief on my parents’ face, the feeling of content inside me. That was a good day.  But I didn’t try to write poetry for a long time. I was happy with the feeling that day gave me and that was that. Since then I wrote whenever musing appeared in front of me unannounced and […]

A Wonderful Outing and Some Reflections #SoulfulSunday

Last week we went on a trip to see the fall colors. The trip was fabulous. We Phoenicians are deprived of fall colors and winter wonderland experiences if not for our cooler cities on the north side. The trip to Flagstaff is laced with vistas of gorgeous mountains all around us. This being the first time we went to see the fall colors in the countryside, it was a rather exciting trip for us. Normally, we visit Flagstaff in December or January when there is snow. The floral carpet was beautifully laid out waiting for our arrival. It was a […]

Plans for the Week #SoulfulSunday

I like my days calm and clutter-free. Not filled with so many appointments. But the week that went by, was busier than the one I imagined what busy meant. The weekend came as a relief. However, it had its share of things to do. Akku’s birthday was yesterday. Thankfully, we didn’t plan for anything major. It was a small affair with just the four of us. We did some shopping to please the boy and fortunately after an hour or so the boy was pleased, sort of.  My body is craving rest and relaxation. But when the longing increases, the […]

Those Were The Best Days! #SoulfulSunday

Last night as I was taking my routine Facebook stroll I happened to overhear this conversation that took place in my feed. Someone in my friend list posted their school photo and others commented “those were the best days”, “if only we could relive those days”, etc.  Often when I hear this statement the question that pops into my mind is “was it though?”. Because when I look back, I clearly remember the good parts as well as the difficult parts of those school days. Of course, I enjoyed the giggles, the fun with my friends, and all those silly […]

The Pool Guardian #SoulfulSunday

Inspiration. It’s a loaded word. This word has so much responsibility. I have been looking to find some inspiration with no luck over the past few weeks. The inspiration to write, that is. And then I find her standing in our community pool of all the places. Some ten days ago we two guys installing this sort of massive-looking structure beside the pool. It was a surveillance system that will go off and alert the neighborhood if anyone goes to the pool during the after-hours, that is between 10 pm and 6 am. This system was installed after we found […]

What will one do! #SoulfulSunday

What will one do when one is filled with so many ideas but gets into a mind-paralysis the moment she thinks about executing those ideas? What will one do when the information around her finds her mind to be the perfect place of residence and she too thinks that it is nice that all this information is finding her but unable to do anything with this information? What will one do when the mind goes into a constant nagging mode that you are not doing enough and she believes her mind is right? What will one do to get the […]

Do You Have a De-stress List? #SoulfulSunday

I love lists. I love making lists. I love thinking about making lists. I love the fact that they are handy and helpful.  One of the lists I keep with me all the time is a de-stress list. It’s there in all the bullet journals I’ve owned so far. You can call it a “self-care list” or a “happy things list”, too. Essentially, it’s a list of things that help me de-stress.  Why a De-stress list Because I have a tendency to forget the most basic things that would help me calm down when I am stressed out. Stress, which […]

How Was Your Week? #SoulfulSunday

The question was simple and easy. The answer sure was simple and easy. But I couldn’t answer.  Sometimes even the simple questions put you on the spot. Especially, if you struggle to answer! Curious to know the question? How was your week – that’s the simple and easy question that made me sweat! My week was actually good. It was productive, with a good amount of rest and relaxation. Yet I couldn’t answer as I couldn’t recall anything at that moment. I wrote every day. I blogged on some days. Studied one day. I learned new skills by trial and […]
