Hello and welcome to the twelfth edition of Fiction Monday.
“If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot.” ~ Stephen King
That’s the simple truth, isn’t it? Reading and writing are the two most essential tools to become a writer.
Last week in this post I shared that my current read was The Forty Rules of Love by Elif Shafak. I finished the book since then and am waiting to find a copy of Nerd No More recommended by my kiddo. Meanwhile, I am reading Three Wishes by Liane Moriarty.
So tell me, which book is keeping you company at the moment? I would love to know.
Stories From The Eleventh Edition
Soft by Esha M Dutta
Regrets by Akshata Ram
Orphaned by Archana
Pity by Vinitha
Please do give these stories a read. These are some beautiful slices of storytelling in just a few words. It might inspire you to write a tale or two for this week’s prompt.
Fiction Monday
The idea is simple – to write fiction. On Mondays, I will post the prompt here. There will be a word prompt and a picture prompt. You have one week to respond with a story. You can choose to include both the prompts in your story or just one prompt – the choice is yours.
The expected word count is between 50 and 250.
You have time till September 26th Saturday, 2020.
Don’t forget to add the link to your story in the comments below. I will share your creations here along with the prompts for the thirteenth edition on Monday the 28th.

Oops! I completely forgot to write for Fiction Monday last week! I wrote everything else I had decided to write, and forgot FM. SO sorry!
Will do it this week, for sure.

I am following up on FM from second edition and not able to submit one. The prompts are interesting Vinitha. Somehow I am missing to submit one as not finding way to make time for writing from few months. Hope I kick start with this prompt in this week.
Thank you for being here, Shilpa. It would be my delight when you respond to the prompt. Please join in when you can. 🙂
I enjoyed reading all the three stories from last week, Vinitha! I think it was a great prompt and I must say all your prompts are getting us all inspired to spin a tale or two each week, so Kudos to all your efforts for the much-needed nudge each week. I know I’m writing after a long break. Can’t wait to read this week’s posts. 🙂
