Hello and welcome to the thirteenth edition of Fiction Monday.
“The best time to plan a book is while you’re doing the dishes.”
~ Agatha Christie
I agree with Agatha. A ridiculous number of poems stroll across my peripheral vision while I am busy doing dishes or cooking. Sometimes I pause and note down the thoughts if they seem to be impatient to hang around for a longer time. Sometimes I note them down as soon as I am done with the dishes. But sometimes, I give my mind the task of holding those thoughts a hostage and guess what, my mind despite all the assurances that it will do a good job, will show me an empty room when I get ready to write.
Tell me, when are you at your creative best?

The idea is simple – to write fiction. On Mondays, I will post the prompt here. There will be a word prompt and a picture prompt. You have one week to respond with a story. You can choose to include both the prompts in your story or just one prompt – the choice is yours.
The expected word count is between 50 and 250.
You have time till October 3rd Saturday, 2020.
Don’t forget to add the link to your story in the comments below. I will share your creations here along with the prompts for the fourteenth edition on Monday the 5th.

The Agatha Christie quote is so apt for me, I can tell you—I get all my writing ideas while doing the mundane chores. 😀 And yes, I do try to jot them down but can’t manage to, always. Many a times, those lovely ideas are lost!
Joining in with a story this week again, Vinitha. Loving the prompts, so decided to go tapping and crafting yet another tale. Here goes mine, for this week:

You may have seen my post on the joy of dishwashing, Vinitha. I do believe it’s a very creative time. Can’t fathom why people think it’s such a difficult chore! 🙂
You are so right. All ideas pop up when doing normal chores and no hands to jot down. Its same story when actual writing starts 😉 Finally i gave a break to my long silent for the writing with this post https://shilpanairy.wordpress.com/2020/09/30/the-cat-and-the-drawer/
All my ideas come while doing the dishes. And half of them disappear before I can get to a place where I can write them down!
Shadow actually seems like the apt name for this cat too! 🙂
I get the best ideas when I am half asleep. Sadly, I lose most of them. I’ll try to pen down one 50 word story. Nice prompt.
Hi Vinitha, here’s my take on the prompt https://www.vinithadileep.com/fiction-monday-13/.
Now thats an amazing pic- love the leonine grace of the black feline!
Mundane tasks are the most creative moments! I agree!! Here is my take on the photo prompt! https://yenforblue.com/2020/10/03/reverse/
First time here. I found this game on Esha’s blog. I tried also.
