Hello and welcome to the fifteenth edition of Fiction Monday.
“A writer is someone for whom writing is more difficult than it is for other people.”
–Thomas Mann, Essays of Three Decades
I am going through a phase where I find it difficult to write. I won’t call it a writer’s block. I have stories and ideas spilling from the top of my head all the time. I didn’t write a response to last week’s #FictionMonday prompt in spite of coming across more than 5 story ideas. I just couldn’t bring myself to write. And that’s why this post is also going up later than usual. I couldn’t make myself sit and write.
I wasn’t lazy. I couldn’t write, that’s it. Even now I am writing only because I feel responsible.
But then, feeling this way is okay – that’s what I tell myself. What’s the point in forcing to write when my fingers refuse to pick up the pen. I can’t express how badly I am feeling about this not-being-able-to-write-despite-having-stories-to-write phase.
When such sort of abnormalities happen, I believe, it’s better to acknowledge and accept the matter and just let it be. Maybe, my mind is under the hostage of some other more pressing problems and this phase is its way of taking care of me by reducing the load.
Anyway, I wish you all a productive and creative week ahead.

Thank you for responding to the prompt you all! I love reading the amazing stories shared here. It never fails to inspire me to write.
Fiction Monday
The idea is simple – to write fiction. On Mondays, I will post the prompt here. There will be a word prompt and a picture prompt. You have one week to respond with a story. You can choose to include both the prompts in your story or just one prompt – the choice is yours.
The expected word count is between 50 and 250.
You have time till October 17th Saturday, 2020.
Don’t forget to add the link to your story in the comments below. I will share your creations here along with the prompts for the sixteenth edition on Monday the 19th.

Waiting to read your responses. ?

I understand what you’re going through, Vinitha. As you said, it’s best to let it be and not force yourself to write. More and more I’m making peace with this myself.
I echo your feeling Vinita. I too feeling same from last few months, ideas are in mind but not able to put into words.
Yeah its totally okay to let yourself be Vini- I have gone through something similar and know exactly what you are talking about.
Guess what – I did get around to writing this time around and here is my attempt though its way over the word limit.

I agree with you.. I have made my peace and write only when the words flow out… One cannot become a ‘factory’ churning out posts to demand..
