Creative Writing

Fiction Monday – 19

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the nineteenth edition of Fiction Monday.

From this edition onwards I am offering something different for fiction Monday. Since many of you are comfortable with long fictional pieces I am increasing the word count to 500. You are also welcome to offer your poetry and non-fiction musings along with fictional pieces if that’s your preferred area. The whole idea is to write. But we will continue to call this as #FictionMonday because why not!

“Writing is its own reward.”
Henry Miller

It’s as simple as that. When you get in the flow state typing away without a care, that’s an absolutely amazing experience. Am I right? There used to be a time before SEO and traffic and monetization became a thing in the blogging world when we blogged to enjoy this reward. It was so much fun and fulfilling. Now there are only a few bloggers who write for passion and the fun of it. One thing I noticed is the ease and fun of reading those blogs than the SEO oriented ones.

Do you feel the same? Of course, there is nothing wrong with monetization and SEO, but I feel comfortable with the olden ways of blogging where I wasn’t familiar with the word ‘niche’.

Stories From The Eighteenth Edition

Happiness by Aseem Rastogi
The Waiting by Esha Dutta
A morning connection by Suzana
The rules by Shilpa Gupte

Thank you for sharing your creative nuggets with us. It was a pleasure to read them all! 🙂

Fiction Monday

The idea is simple – to write fiction. On Mondays, I will post the prompt here. There will be a word prompt and a picture prompt. You have one week to respond with a story. You can choose to include both the prompts in your story or just one prompt – the choice is yours.

The expected word count is between 50 and 500. From the nineteenth edition onwards I am offering something different for fiction Monday. You are also welcome to offer your poetry and non-fiction musings along with fictional pieces if that’s your preferred area. The whole idea is to write. But we will continue to call this as #FictionMonday because why not!

You have time till November 14th Saturday, 2020.

Don’t forget to add the link to your story in the comments below. I will share your creations here along with the prompts for the twentieth edition on Monday the 16th of November.

  1. Haha! Thanks for this extended length, Vini! I so needed it 😀
I know I must learn to respect the word length and try to express my thoughts in lesser words..coz less is more, sometimes. But sometimes, the ideas keep coming and then stopping them in their tracks becomes difficult.

WIll share my post by Friday, coz that’s when I have decided to write fiction. I am trying to make life easier, so Mondays are for Musings, Wednesdays are for Wellness, and Fridays are for Fiction. Easy to remember when I need to tackle what 🙂

  2. Great thought Vinitha.. I am still not aware of SEO and other stuff.. I write to keep me happy and get lost in my imagination which is much happy world than the current one 🙂

What do you think? Please share! :)
