Fiction Monday – 25

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the twenty-fifth edition of Fiction Monday.

I have thought of taking a break till January 1st from blogging, but then I realized there are posts I want to write before the new year commences. And since Fiction Monday started in June, I have always made sure to publish every week, though a little late on some weeks. I would like to continue the streak as much as I can. So if you are taking a break from writing that’s absolutely fine because I will be here with a new prompt every week as long as I can.

While taking stock of the year gone by and making goals for the new year, make sure you make yourself a priority. Ensure that you get a 30-minute quality me-time daily. Take it slow. Time is whooshing by, I know. But we need to slow down to enjoy the time we got, else we will be faced with burnout.

It wasn’t an easy year for any of us. But my experience says that counting our blessings matter. Finding joy in the little things matter. The number of followers and likes will never bring the kind of peace and sanity that we humans crave for. It’s always the little things that make our life worth living. So slow down, enjoy the lazy mornings, relax with your favorite beverage, spend time with your family, play with your kids, soak up that sunset, appreciate yourself for always taking care of you.

Fiction Monday

The idea is simple – to write. On Mondays, I will post the prompt here. There will be a word prompt and a picture prompt. You have one week to respond with a story. You can choose to include both the prompts in your story or just one prompt – the choice is yours.

The expected word count is between 50 and 500. From the nineteenth edition onwards I am offering something different for fiction Monday. You are also welcome to offer your poetry and non-fiction musings along with fictional pieces if that’s your preferred area. The whole idea is to write. But we will continue to call this #FictionMonday because why not!

You have time till December 26th Saturday, 2020.

Don’t forget to add the link to your story in the comments below. I will share your creations here along with the prompts for the twenty-fifth edition on Monday the 28th of December.

  1. If you really wish to take a break, Vini, then please go ahead. You know how much you need it. Just a week of relaxing will refresh you and will help you come back with vigour for the new year.
Thank you for this week’s prompt. LIGHT: it is what we need to see in times of darkness, at the end of the tunnel.
WIll write a flash fiction piece for this soon.
    Take care!

  2. 25th edition- WOW!!! Congrats Vini for this is just awesome. If you want to take a break, then thats what you should do. You will come back refreshed and can always compose the drafts for the stories in your head and post them later. I think this time of the year every one takes a much needed break too 🙂
