Fiction Monday – 29

Hello everyone! Welcome to the twenty-ninth edition of Fiction Monday.

“If not now then when?”

This is a thought that I live by. Life is short. There comes a day when you can’t put it off any longer. I have a tendency to put off my dearest works to a later time. This is so I can give it the love and attention it deserves. As a result, I never finish them. I have some stories which I loved so much when I first wrote, sitting in my draft waiting for their turn to see the world.

I mean there are many such pieces resting in different pages of my book and Google docs. The reason I have been trying to squeeze a lot in my 24 hours is because I am aware of my tendency to keep things for a later time.

That’s why I started my YouTube channel, Podcast channel, Fiction Monday, writing on Medium, published my book; even my blogs exist because sometimes when my mind wasn’t cluttered I let this thought in. If not now then when?

For every dream and ideas, this is a great question. if not now then when? Mind you we are not going to live forever.

So tell me, what is that you are putting off? If not now then when are you planning to get to it?

Stories From The Twenty-eighth Edition

I am so happy to read all of these entries. They were all equally refreshing and entertaining. Give them a read if you please.

Fiction Monday

The idea is simple – to write fiction. On Mondays, I will post the prompt here. There will be a word prompt and a picture prompt. You have one week to respond with a story. You can choose to include both the prompts in your story or just one prompt – the choice is yours.

The expected word count is between 50 and 500. From the nineteenth edition onwards I am offering something different for fiction Monday. You are also welcome to offer your poetry and non-fiction musings along with fictional pieces if that’s your preferred area. The whole idea is to write. But we will continue to call this #FictionMonday because why not!

You have time till January 23rd Saturday, 2021.

Don’t forget to add the link to your story in the comments below. I will share your creations here along with the prompts for the thirtieth edition on Monday the 25th of January.

  1. Oh God! You people are tempting me to revive my writing blog again. I don’t know if I have it me to write Fiction again, that too for public consumption on a blog. But like you rightly said, if not now then when?

  2. I hear you Vini about putting off things and the list is endless. I love how productive you are- its amazing how many mediums you are experimenting with. More power to you girl!

  3. You have been putting off things to be done later. You have also been doing things in the now. You are creating wonderfully.
As with me, I am moving from one day to another. There is just one plan for this year and the thought of it gives me goosebumps. The word Melt took me back 15 years ago in the memories, the ones I cannot write about but they have a home in my heart 🙂

  4. Such an interesting question Vini. That same thought is what keeps me going too. The reason why I started my YouTube, podcast etc is because I wanted to and I also know there will never be “the right time”. So may as well just go for it, do it the best as I can, even if it means it won’t always be consistent. Done is better than perfect, and inconsistently doing something is better than never doing it at all, I guess!

What do you think? Please share! :)
