Fiction Monday – 38

Hello writers! Welcome to the thirty-eighth edition of Fiction Monday.

“Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it is only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up.”

~Jane Yolen

It’s the same old advice that keeps surfacing – write daily if you are aiming to improve. Keep practicing. Keep going.

I write my morning pages daily morning even if its only a few sentences. I also write on my gratitude journal daily night. Also, I try to jot down a few thoughts here and there on my journal or note app. My writing time needs to be sorted and dedicated as I feel I can do better. Rather I should do better.

So tell me, how does your writing exercise look? Do you write daily? What are you writing every day?

Fiction Monday

The idea is simple – to write fiction. On Mondays, I will post the prompt here. There will be a word prompt and a picture prompt. You have one week to respond with a story. You can choose to include both the prompts in your story or just one prompt – the choice is yours.

The expected word count is between 50 and 500. From the nineteenth edition onwards I am offering something different for fiction Monday. You are also welcome to write your poetry and non-fiction musings along with fictional pieces if that’s your preferred area. The whole idea is to write. But we will continue to call this as #FictionMonday because why not!

You have time till March 27th Saturday, 2021.

Don’t forget to add the link to your story in the comments below. I will share your creations here along with the prompts for the thirty-ninth edition on Monday the 29th of March.

  1. I am trying to build a daily writing habit, Vinitha. However, I am more of this batching kind of person, so I prefer to dedicate one day for writing and maybe the rest for editing all of that! 😉 I love your fiction prompts. Have a great week ahead!

What do you think? Please share! :)
