Welcome to the sixty-fourth edition of Fiction Monday!
“Believe you can and you are halfway there.”
– Theodore Roosevelt
Is it that easy? Yes, it is. When I was going through my creative struggle I constantly reminded myself that I was not able to write; I was not able to focus on anything; nothing I did was good enough. These were the nagging thoughts that followed me around. The annoying part was even when I had written something decent and showed up consistently where it mattered to me, I felt that nothing I did was good enough because I was not feeling good enough. I discredited anything I did – be it waking up at 5 and journaling or writing three poems a day or publishing a podcast or even spending time recording, editing, and publishing a tutorial video.
I spent my energy focusing on the negative thoughts that loomed and concentrated on why is it happening. Where in fact, I should’ve been focusing on how could I stop feeling this way. Even though I knew that it wasn’t true, I believed that I wasn’t good enough.
It took away my precious energy for such a long time. Almost the entire 2021. But looking back, I feel for a person who was followed by a stream of negative thoughts I did pretty good. Okay, if I am talking about a friend I would say absolutely wonderful.
As I type this I can feel my energy shifting to its positive state completely.
Believe in yourself. Discard those negative thoughts. It might not be easy, but it is possible. Believe you can and you are halfway there. Right?
The idea is simple – to write. On Mondays, I will post the prompt here. There will be a word prompt and a picture prompt. You have one week to respond with a story. You can choose to include both the prompts in your story or just one prompt – the choice is yours.
The expected word count is between 50 and 500. From the nineteenth edition onwards I am offering something different for fiction Monday. You are welcome to share poetry, non-fiction musings, or fictional pieces. The whole idea is to write. But we will continue to call this #FictionMonday, because why not!
You have time till September 25th, Saturday, 2021.
Don’t forget to add the link to your story in the comments below. I will share your creations here, along with the prompts for the sixty-fifth edition on Monday the 27th of September.
