Life MicroBlog Mondays

I am happy when ..

Lately, I am coming across a lot of happiness related reads. It’s silly how all we want to be is happy and end up not happy for the most part of our life. That’s because we connect happiness with success and wealth more often than not. Wherein reality any rate of success and wealth cannot guarantee our mind’s happiness.

But then, you and I already knew this, right? Afterall, we are intelligent people. We know that happiness lies in the simpler things. Little moments of joy, aren’t they?

After reading Naba’s 21 smaller ways to be happier a couple of weeks ago and Shilpa’s Finding joy in the little things today, I couldn’t resist finishing my own list of things that make me happy. Some of them, you might find silly, but if it makes me happy then who cares!

42 simple joys of my life
  1. Getting up early and enjoying the silence sipping my hot tea while everyone else is asleep.
  2. Practicing Yoga, especially when I go to the class and experience Yoga to its fullest.
  3. Going for a walk with my family.
  4. Talking to my husband.
  5. My husband.
  6. Bugging my husband about the gift for my birthday weeks before the actual day.

  35. Making my To-Do lists and going over them.
  36. Finishing up my tasks for the day.

  40. Surprising my husband with his favorite dishes.
  41. Skywatching and stargazing.
  42. Catching up with friends.

This list is in no particular order. There are more to add, of course. But for now, I am concluding.

You know what, you should try this activity too. I am smiling from ear to ear as I read the list again. Of course, it is the little things that can bring immense, long-lasting joy. Do you agree?

    1. Making this kind of a list will absolutely help us to focus on the goodness that life grants us. Hope that you are doing good, Alana.

  1. I was smiling ear to ear too Vini as your list felt so humble and pleasing to read. I love my morning times with my huge mug of tea and the silence all around with just the birds twittering about!

    1. I’m so glad that my list made you smile, Shalini. I don’t get to drink that tea in silence every morning, but when I do get to do so, I absolutely enjoy it. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Shalini. 🙂

  2. This is such a feel good post. So many things to be happy about. Keep smiling Vinitha. It’s true, happiness lies in simple things.

    1. Totally, Raj. As I read again I am finding more things to add to the list. It is wonderful to know that we have a lot to be happy about than we realize. Thanks for stopping by, Raj. 🙂

  3. Lovely list. I do this regularly, as you know, Vinitha. Appreciating the small things keeps us in a wonderful frame of mind. Hope your week is going well!
