Weekly Gratitude – 32 #SoulfulSunday

Last week was a stressful one for me. I don’t want to get into the details. Instead, I would like to share a few things I learned.

I am not always right – it might come as a surprise to many of you, but there are times I am wrong. For example, no matter how many times I show the mirror to someone if they refuse to see the spinach stuck in their teeth, it’s of no use repeating about the said spinach on their teeth. My belief was if you show the proof, if you spell it out, sooner or later they will see what’s really happening.

But no, I was wrong. When someone strongly believes in something that’s the truth. That’s their truth.

It’s okay if you can’t change others’ viewpoints – no matter how crazy the opinion is, it’s okay that each of us has our own beliefs and viewpoints. It’s really okay.

What is not okay, is trying to change the viewpoint forcefully – Yeah, that’s not acceptable. We need to back off when someone has willingly chosen a not-so-glamorous view of life. We all have our rights.

In the end, it doesn’t matter how many viewpoints you have changed, but how much you were willing to listen to – sometimes, all we need is a listening ear. Can we be that listening ear to someone? Can we do that without judgment?

To each their own. It’s impossible not judging. But we can still be there for others. I won’t say it is easy. But it can be done.

There are times life puzzles me. When I can see the big picture and am able to appreciate how each stray color had added depth and beauty to the picture, it’s disheartening to see others complaining about the stray colors. But it is not my place to make them understand. Because, when one is truly ready, they will be wise enough to take a step back and look at the picture and identify the value of each imperfection that made the picture a perfect one.

Life is a constant teacher. And it never gets paid. Have you heard life complaining ever? Life sure must have seen the big picture. Right?

  1. Hugs, Vinitha! I’m sorry to hear about how things have been. I’ve learnt that it takes all kinds to make this world. It’s definitely a blessing that some people can perceive life, in all its shades, and in perspective while many can’t. We cannot change people, so it’s best to move on. I’m glad that you shared the angst you’ve felt, through your writing, Vinitha. It sure helps to get things out of our system, so we can move on to other constructive things, right? I wish and pray this is a better week for you.
Much love and tonnes of positive vibes coming your way, dear.

  2. Life teaches us so many things and I think it hurts so much because it is one of the most strongest reminders. But I’m so glad you’ve been resilient through it all 🙂

What do you think? Please share! :)
