2020 Word of the year

Word of the Year 2020

January is coming to a close and here I am typing my word of the year post. Actually the word was decided by October last year. I even started preparing this post back then as I knew I wouldn’t be able to blog in December and the first half of January owing to the trip to India. As I expected blogging was the last thing in my mind when I was in India and this post lay here incomplete.

Word of the Year 2020

But you know what, that’s okay. True, I couldn’t join the WOTY linky party hosted by Corinne at Everyday Gyaan because of this tardiness, but my intention in setting the word is not discouraged because of this post’s late arrival.

Last year I chose Indulgence as my word. It was a reminder to slow down and indulge in moments that otherwise would’ve counted as wastage of m time namely, taking care of myself. As I was browsing through my old Word of the year posts I saw a pattern – each word was a reminder of how I wanted to feel or treat myself (except for the 2018 WOTY).

My chosen word for 2020 also falls into that pattern. But more importantly, I am taking the learnings from all those previous years with me this year. One of the most important lessons is from 2019 that is to slow down. This year the word that will guide me is CHOICE.

How the word choice would help me in 2020

I am hoping that the word choice would help me in choosing the battles wisely. Also that it will remind me that no matter what, I have a choice. To be honest, I expect this year to be a little on the difficult side as I have planned something new for the year. But I don’t want to forget that it is my choice to set the expectations a little higher, that anytime I feel uneasy about the way things are going I can choose to change the settings. Of course, I am aware that not all situations would be under my control and that is okay.

This year I am choosing to have a choice in how I feel, work, grow, and progress.

So deep breath in and let’s begin.

  1. That’s a powerful word, Vinitha. I’m sending you every good wish that you make choices that are the best for you through the year. I look forward to reading more about your plans. ♥

  2. Perfect word, Vini! We take up a whole lot on our plate, more than we can manage, and then we suffer. It’s best to make the right choice, even if it means losing out on somethings. But you never know, the right choice you make will always make sure you do your best and feel your best, too,
    WIsh you the best!

  3. That’s a wonderful word! It’s so important to make sure we are actually choosing the things we are focusing on, rather than going through life running on default mode!

  4. Well as they say better late than never. And choice is a great word to choose as many of us feel that we have no choice. I’m sure this word will guide you through a fulfilling year.

  5. Good choice for WOTY. There’s always a choice in most cases that we often tend to overlook.

  6. That is a lovely word for the year. All the best for you all your plans for this year. My word for the year is “Prioritize”. This is to remind myself to learn to say no to things some times.

  7. Choice is a very powerful word Vini and I wish you all the best with this one. I hope you are able to follow this one to the core as it would lead you to some wonderful moments in the year. I look forward to hearing all about your year now.
